Various Artists NOW Yearbook 1982 Review: As we delve into the musical time capsule that is NOW Yearbook 1982, we are greeted with a smorgasbord of hits and misses from the early 80s. From the iconic synths of "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell to the infectious pop perfection of Dexys Midnight Runners' "Come On Eileen," this album is a rollercoaster of retro goodness. The highs on this album are as high as the shoulder pads were big in 1982. Tracks like Culture Club's "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" and Duran Duran's "Hungry Like the Wolf" transport us back to a time when neon was the new black and mullets were the height of fashion. However, not every track on NOW Yearbook 1982 hits the mark. The cheesy balladry of Air Supply's "Even the Nights Are Better" feels more like a guilty pleasure than a timeless classic. And the forgettable soft rock tunes scattered throughout the album leave us longing for a more consistent musical experience.
