Our Take

Aerosmith's "Nine Lives" is like a greasy, late-night kebab - satisfying in the moment, but leaving you with a stomach ache the next day. The band's ninth studio album has all the signature elements of an Aerosmith record: crunchy guitars, Steven Tyler's screeching vocals, and lyrics about sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll.

From the opening track "Nine Lives" to the closing ballad "Fallen Angels," Aerosmith take us on a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows. There are some standout moments, like the infectious groove of "Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)" and the anthemic chorus of "Pink." But there's also a fair share of forgettable tracks that feel like filler.

Throughout the album, Aerosmith try to recapture the magic of their glory days, but it often feels forced and contrived. The band's attempts to stay relevant in the '90s music scene come off as desperate, with cringeworthy attempts at rap-rock and grunge influences.

Despite its flaws, "Nine Lives" is a fun listen for fans of classic rock. It's a nostalgic trip back to a time when Aerosmith ruled the airwaves. Just make sure you have a bottle of Tums handy for the inevitable indigestion.

With a career spanning over five decades, this iconic American rock band has cemented their place in music history as one of the greatest of all time. From their electrifying live performances to their chart-topping hits, Aerosmith has continuously redefined the rock genre and inspired countless musicians along the way. Led by the dynamic duo of Steven Tyler's mesmerising vocals and Joe Perry's killer guitar riffs, Aerosmith burst onto the scene in the 1970s with their bluesy rock sound and bad-boy antics. Hits like "Dream On" and "Walk This Way" became anthems for a generation, solidifying Aerosmith's status as rock royalty. But what truly sets Aerosmith apart is their ability to adapt and evolve with the times. Despite numerous lineup changes, personal struggles, and even a hiatus in the 80s, Aerosmith always manages to bounce back stronger than ever. Their resilience and unwavering passion for music have earned them a devoted fanbase that spans generations. Whether you're a die-hard Aerosmith fan or a casual listener, there's no denying the impact this band has had on the music industry. So crank up the volume, throw up the horns, and let Aerosmith's timeless rock 'n' roll sound transport you to a world where anything is possible.
