Our Take
Oh, White Lies, you cheeky chaps. Night Light, the band's fourth studio album, is a delightful romp through synth-pop nostalgia with a modern twist. Frontman Harry McVeigh's vocals are as sultry as ever, reminiscent of a young Robert Smith after a night of binge-watching Stranger Things. The opening track, "Take It Out on Me", is a bombastic explosion of 80s-inspired energy. The pulsating bassline and infectious chorus will have you dancing like a fool in no time. "Morning in LA" is a dreamy ballad that showcases the band's songwriting chops, with haunting synths and introspective lyrics that will make you want to cry into your soy latte. But it's the title track, "Night Light", that truly shines on this album. A dancefloor anthem in the making, with a killer hook and a chorus that will be stuck in your head for days. It's the kind of song that will make you want to grab your nearest glitter ball and dance the night away. Overall, White Lies have delivered another solid effort with Night Light.
