Once in a blue moon, an album comes along that really makes you sit up and take notice. My Morning Jacket's self-titled debut is not one of those albums. In fact, it's about as memorable as a soggy biscuit at a tea party.

From the very first track, it's clear that My Morning Jacket are not here to reinvent the wheel. With generic guitar riffs and lacklustre vocals, this album feels like a missed opportunity to make a mark on the indie music scene.

That's not to say there aren't some moments of promise hidden among the mediocrity. Tracks like "The Man Who Loves You the Most" and "It Beats For You" show glimpses of the band's potential, but they are few and far between.

Overall, My Morning Jacket's debut is a forgettable affair that lacks the spark and originality needed to stand out in a crowded market. Maybe next time, lads, eh?
