Our Take

I have to admit, when I heard that Rihanna's debut album was called "Music of the Sun," I was slightly worried that it would be a collection of cheesy reggae-inspired tunes that would make me want to reach for the sunscreen. But oh how wrong I was.

From the moment the title track kicks in, you're transported to a sun-drenched island paradise where the rum flows freely and the party never stops. Rihanna's vocals effortlessly switch between sweet and sassy, and she pulls off dancehall-infused tracks like "Pon de Replay" with ease.

The production on this album is top-notch, with infectious beats that will have you dancing around your living room in no time. "If It's Lovin' That You Want" is a smooth, soulful jam that showcases Rihanna's vocal range, while "You Don't Love Me (No, No, No)" adds a touch of old-school reggae to the mix.
