Our Take
MOUVEMENTS, with their debut album cleverly titled Mouvements, have burst onto the scene with an eclectic mix of genres that is as impressive as it is confusing. From the moment you press play, you are thrown into a whirlwind of sound that takes you on a rollercoaster ride through funk, jazz, and even a hint of psychedelic rock. The opening track, "Groove Machine", sets the tone for the album with its infectious bassline and funky guitar riffs that will have you tapping your feet in no time. It's a shame that the lyrics seem to have been written by a group of monkeys with typewriters, but hey, who needs coherent lyrics when the music is this good? As the album progresses, you are taken on a journey through unexpected twists and turns, with tracks like "Space Jam" seamlessly blending elements of disco and electronica in a way that shouldn't work, but somehow does. It's a testament to MOUVEMENTS' musical prowess that they can pull off such a bold experiment with such finesse. However, not every track on Mouvements hits the mark. Tracks like "Funky Town Blues" and "Smooth Operator" feel a bit too derivative and fail to leave a lasting impression. But overall, this album is a breath of fresh air in a music industry that can sometimes feel stale and uninspired. So, grab your dancing shoes and get ready to groove along to MOUVEMENTS' Mouvements. Just be prepared for a musical rollercoaster ride that will leave you exhilarated, confused, and possibly a little bit dizzy.
