Our Take

Ahh, HIGHLY SUSPECT, the band with a name that perfectly encapsulates the feeling you get when trying to figure out their genre. Are they grunge? Are they hard rock? Are they a little bit of everything? Who knows, but one thing is for sure - their album "Mister Asylum" is a rollercoaster of a ride.

From the opening track, "My Name is Human," you are immediately sucked into their world of distorted guitars, pounding drums, and frontman Johnny Stevens' haunting vocals. It's like being in a dark, dingy dive bar where anything can happen - and probably will.

Tracks like "Bloodfeather" and "Vanity" showcase the band's ability to mix heavy guitar riffs with catchy hooks, creating a sound that is both raw and melodic. And then there's "Mom," a track that starts off with a slow, mournful guitar before exploding into a frenetic frenzy of sound.

But just when you think you have them pegged, HIGHLY SUSPECT throw a curveball with "23." A stripped-down, acoustic track that showcases Stevens' songwriting chops and vulnerability. It's a welcome breather in an album that is full of in-your-face intensity.

Overall, "Mister Asylum" is a wild, unpredictable ride that will leave you wanting more. HIGHLY SUSPECT may still be a mystery, but one thing is for sure - their music is anything but suspect. Highly recommended for fans of rock with a twist.

About the artist

Highly Suspect

HIGHLY SUSPECT burst onto the music scene in 2009 with a sound so raw and powerful it knocked the industry on its arse. Hailing from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, this trio consists of twin brothers Rich and Ryan Meyer and their best mate, Johnny Stevens. Their music can be described as a sonic rollercoaster, with influences ranging from grunge to blues to hard rock. Their breakthrough album, "Mister Asylum," garnered critical acclaim and a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album. Since then, they've continued to push boundaries with their electrifying live performances and genre-defying sound. Stevens' vocals are like a punch to the gut, with lyrics that cut deep and leave you pondering life's big questions. The Meyer brothers provide the thunderous backbone, laying down beats and riffs that will leave you begging for more. Their chemistry on stage is undeniable, with a connection that can only come from years of blood, sweat, and tears. Whether you're rocking out at a festival or getting cosy in a smoky bar, HIGHLY SUSPECT will transport you to another dimension. Their music is a gritty, no-holds-barred look at life, love, and everything in between. So buckle up, dear reader, and prepare for a journey you won't soon forget. HIGHLY SUSPECT is here to shake up the music world, one blistering riff at a time.
