KATAKLYSM's latest offering, "Meditations," is like a whirlwind of heavy riffs and thunderous drums that would make even the most stoic metalhead break out into an impromptu air guitar solo. The Canadian quartet have been churning out brutal tunes since the early '90s, and they show no signs of slowing down on this album.
From the moment the opening track, "Guillotine," kicks in, you know you're in for a wild ride. The band's signature blend of death metal and melodic hooks is on full display here, creating a sound that is both punishing and catchy in equal measure. Frontman Maurizio Iacono's guttural growls are as menacing as ever, while guitarist JF Dagenais shreds his way through each track with impressive precision.
