Our Take
Ah, Medieval Steel, the band who clearly missed the memo that it's not actually the medieval ages anymore. Their self-titled album, released on bone vinyl no less, is a headbanging journey through time that will make you question whether you belong in a metal concert or a jousting tournament.
From the moment the opening track kicks in, you're transported to a world where men wear leather pants and wield swords instead of guitars. The vocals are powerful yet slightly over the top, as if the lead singer is trying to outdo a dragon's roar. The guitar solos are blistering, like the flames of a dragon breathing fire.
The songs themselves are a mix of anthems fit for a medieval feast and odes to warriors going into battle. "Battle Hymn" is a true standout, with its catchy chorus and thunderous drums that make you want to grab a goblet of mead and raise it high.
Overall, Medieval Steel's self-titled album is a fun romp through a time long past, reminding us that sometimes it's good to escape the present and rock out like it's the Dark Ages.
