Our Take
In a world filled with heartache and heartbreak, KISS comes charging in like a well-oiled machine with their classic album Love Gun. From the opening riff of the title track to the explosive finale of "Then She Kissed Me", this record is a rollercoaster of emotions and badassery. Gene Simmons's growling vocals and larger-than-life stage presence are on full display on tracks like "Shock Me" and "I Stole Your Love", while Paul Stanley's soaring voice and killer guitar licks keep the energy high throughout. The rhythm section of Peter Criss and Ace Frehley provides a solid backbone for the bombastic rock anthems that make up the heart of Love Gun. But what sets this album apart from the rest is its playful sense of humour and unabashedly cheesy lyrics. From the cheeky innuendos of "Plaster Caster" to the over-the-top machismo of "Christine Sixteen", KISS doesn't take themselves too seriously and that's what makes Love Gun such a joy to listen to.
