Our Take

Shane Filan's latest offering, "Love Always," is a sugary-sweet treat for lovers of pop ballads and cheesy lyrics. Notorious for his boyband days in Westlife, Filan has now gone solo with this album, serving up a mix of heartfelt tracks that will have you both cringing and swooning in equal measure.

The opening track, "This I Promise You," sets the tone for the album with its cliché lyrics and cheesy 90s vibe. Filan's smooth vocals are on full display here, but it's hard to take him seriously when he's singing lines like "I promise to love you until the end of time."

As the album progresses, we're treated to more of the same: sappy love songs, predictable melodies, and a distinct lack of originality. Tracks like "Beautiful in White" and "Heaven" feel like they could have been written by a love-struck teenager in their bedroom, but Filan somehow manages to pull them off with his earnest delivery.

Despite its lack of innovation, "Love Always" is a guilty pleasure that will have you reaching for the tissues and singing along at the top of your lungs. Filan may not be breaking any new ground with this album, but he knows his audience and delivers exactly what they want: a dose of pure, unadulterated romance.
