Our Take

Ah, Placebo. The perennially angsty rockers are back with their seventh studio album, "Loud Like Love." And boy, is it a rollercoaster of emotions.

From the opening track, "Loud Like Love," the band wastes no time in hitting us with their signature blend of gloomy lyrics and crunchy guitars. Brian Molko's haunting vocals cut through the mix like a knife through butter, delivering punchy melodies that will have you singing along in no time.

Tracks like "Too Many Friends" and "Hold On to Me" showcase the band's ability to craft catchy hooks that will stick in your head for days. But it's not all doom and gloom with Placebo. The bouncy rhythms of "Rob the Bank" and "Purify" inject a welcome dose of energy into the album, giving us a taste of the band's more playful side.

But don't be fooled by the upbeat moments – Placebo still know how to tug at the heartstrings with tracks like "Bosco" and "Exit Wounds." The dark, brooding atmosphere that the band is known for is still very much present, making "Loud Like Love" a mesmerising listen from start to finish.

So, if you're in the mood for some deliciously gloomy rock music that will make you want to dance and cry at the same time, look no further than "Loud Like Love" by Placebo. It's a masterclass in moodiness that will leave you wanting more.

About the artist

Placebo

Ah, Placebo. The band that never quite fit in but found their own unique place in the music world. With frontman Brian Molko's androgynous vocals and signature guitar riffs, they've been challenging the status quo since the 90s. Formed in London in 1994, Placebo quickly gained a cult following with their debut self-titled album in 1996. Songs like "Nancy Boy" and "Pure Morning" became anthems for the disillusioned and disaffected youth of the era. Their sound fuses elements of punk, glam rock, and alternative rock, creating a genre-defying sonic experience that is all their own. Molko's introspective lyrics and raw emotion in his delivery have struck a chord with fans and critics alike. Their live performances are a sight to behold, with Molko's captivating stage presence and the band's energy radiating through the crowd. Whether they're playing in an intimate club or headlining a festival stage, Placebo never fails to deliver a memorable show. Over the years, they've released a string of critically acclaimed albums, including "Without You I'm Nothing" and "Meds", solidifying their place as one of the most influential bands in alternative music. While some may try to pigeonhole Placebo into a specific genre, they defy categorization with their ever-evolving sound and boundary-pushing creativity. Love them or hate them, you can't deny the impact that Placebo has had on the music world. And really, isn't that what it's all about?
