Our Take

Steve Marriott's Lost & Found 1973-1977 is a musical time capsule that takes us on a wild ride through the eclectic sounds of one of rock's unsung heroes. Bursting with energy and raw emotion, this album is a treasure trove of rare tracks and hidden gems that showcase Marriott's unparalleled talent and versatility.

From the soulful ballads of "Polk Salad Annie" to the hard-hitting riffs of "Watch Your Step," Marriott effortlessly navigates through a myriad of genres with the finesse of a seasoned pro. His distinctive voice and passionate delivery are nothing short of mind-blowing, leaving listeners in awe of his undeniable talent.

The production on Lost & Found is top-notch, with each instrument shining brightly and complementing Marriott's vocals perfectly. The guitar solos are blistering, the basslines are funky, and the drums are thunderous – creating a sonic landscape that is as rich and diverse as Marriott's own musical influences.

In an industry saturated with cookie-cutter pop stars and manufactured bands, Steve Marriott stands out as a true original. His music is raw, authentic, and full of soul – a refreshing change of pace in a world dominated by mediocrity.

So, if you're in the mood for some good old-fashioned rock 'n' roll with a twist, look no further than Lost & Found 1973-1977. Steve Marriott may be gone, but his music lives on – and boy, is it worth rediscovering.

About the artist

Steve Marriott

Steve Marriott is the unsung hero of British rock, a pint-sized powerhouse with a voice that could shatter glass. Born on January 30, 1947, in East London, Marriott burst onto the music scene in the 1960s as the frontman of Small Faces, a band that paved the way for the rock revolution. With his signature raspy vocals and electrifying stage presence, Marriott quickly became a legend in the UK music scene. He was known for his dynamic performances, often leaping around the stage with boundless energy, captivating audiences with his raw talent and infectiously cheeky charm. In addition to his work with Small Faces, Marriott also found success as a solo artist, releasing a string of hit albums and singles that showcased his versatility as a musician. From soulful ballads to hard-hitting rock anthems, Marriott could do it all with style and flair. Despite his undeniable talent, Marriott's career was sadly cut short when he passed away in 1991 at the age of 44. However, his legacy lives on through his timeless music, which continues to inspire and influence generations of musicians to this day. So, raise a glass to Steve Marriott, the beloved British rock icon who left us too soon but will always be remembered as one of the greatest voices in music history. Cheers to the man, the myth, the legend – Steve Marriott.
