Our Take
Our Take
The Gun Club's live performance at The Hacienda in '84 has been unearthed from the depths of music history and delivered to us in glorious Quattro Purple/Translucent Vinyl for this year's Black Friday festivities.
Frontman Jeffrey Lee Pierce's raw energy and gritty vocals are on full display as the band tears through classics like "Sex Beat" and "She's Like Heroin to Me" with an unrivaled intensity. The crowd at The Hacienda was clearly in for a wild ride, and the Gun Club did not disappoint.
The band's unique blend of punk, blues, and rockabilly is as infectious as ever, making it impossible not to tap your foot along to the infectious rhythms and searing guitar solos. The live setting only adds to the electricity of the performance, with each track sounding even more urgent and vital than on the studio recordings.
With their raucous energy and unapologetic attitude, The Gun Club prove why they are still considered one of the most influential bands of their time. This live album is a testament to their enduring legacy and a must-have for any fan of gritty, no-holds-barred rock 'n' roll. So grab your Quattro Purple Vinyl, turn up the volume, and let The Gun Club transport you back to the wild days of '84 at The Hacienda.

About the artist
The Gun Club
The Gun Club were the perfect embodiment of the raw, rebellious spirit of punk rock. Fronted by the enigmatic Jeffrey Lee Pierce, this American band fused elements of blues, rockabilly, and punk to create a sound that was all their own. With their blistering guitar riffs, pounding drums, and Pierce's gravelly vocals, The Gun Club were a force to be reckoned with. Formed in Los Angeles in the early 1980s, The Gun Club quickly gained a reputation for their electrifying live shows and their no-holds-barred approach to music. Their debut album, "Fire of Love," remains a classic of the post-punk era, with tracks like "Sex Beat" and "For the Love of Ivy" showcasing the band's unique blend of raw energy and dark lyricism. Despite internal tensions and lineup changes, The Gun Club continued to push the boundaries of rock music throughout the 80s and 90s. Their sound evolved over the years, incorporating elements of country and psychedelia, but their rebellious spirit and fierce energy remained constant. Tragically, Jeffrey Lee Pierce passed away in 1996, but his legacy lives on through The Gun Club's influential body of work. With their genre-defying sound and uncompromising attitude, The Gun Club remain one of the most important bands in the history of punk rock. So, next time you're feeling like a rebel without a cause, put on some Gun Club and let the wild, untamed spirit of rock 'n' roll wash over you.
