Our Take
The latest offering from legendary band Simply Red, this live album is a rollercoaster of emotions from start to finish. Mick Hucknall's velvety vocals are on top form, effortlessly hitting those high notes as if he's never aged a day. The band's tight rhythm section keeps the energy high throughout, with each member getting their chance to shine in the spotlight. Opening with the infectious groove of "Something Got Me Started", the crowd is immediately on their feet, dancing and singing along as if their lives depend on it. The band's signature soulful sound is in full force here, with classics like "Stars" and "Holding Back the Years" giving fans a much-needed dose of nostalgia. But it's not all smooth sailing for Simply Red on this live album. Some tracks feel a bit tired, lacking the spark and energy of their studio counterparts. And while Hucknall's voice is as powerful as ever, there are moments where it feels strained and overworked.
