Our Take

Upon first listen, STONEBURNER's latest offering "Life Drawing" hits you like a punch in the gut, in the most glorious way possible. This album is a rollercoaster of emotions, with each track taking you on a journey through the depths of the human experience.

From the haunting opening notes of "The Phoenix," to the frenetic energy of "Hunter-Seeker," STONEBURNER showcase their mastery of blending industrial, metal, and electronic elements to create a sound that is uniquely their own. Frontman Steven Archer's vocals soar and growl with equal power, adding an extra layer of intensity to each song.

The stand-out track for me has to be "Corvus," a dark and brooding masterpiece that builds to a crescendo of guitars and pounding drums. It's a prime example of STONEBURNER's ability to create music that is both atmospheric and visceral, drawing you in and refusing to let go.

Overall, "Life Drawing" is a triumph for STONEBURNER, showcasing their evolution as musicians and songwriters. Fans of bands like Nine Inch Nails and Skinny Puppy will find much to love here, but really, this album is for anyone who appreciates music that pushes boundaries and challenges the listener. Trust me, this is one to add to your collection.

About the artist

Stoneburner

Stoneburner is the enigmatic musical project of one-man band Steven Archer, hailing from Baltimore, Maryland. With a name inspired by a character from Frank Herbert's Dune series, Stoneburner brings a unique blend of electronic, industrial, and post-punk influences to the table. Archer's avant-garde approach to music-making is a breath of fresh air in a scene that can sometimes feel stale and derivative. His haunting vocals and hypnotic rhythms draw listeners in, only to surprise them with unexpected twists and turns along the way. Stoneburner's live performances are a sight to behold, with Archer manning a veritable arsenal of synths, drum machines, and other electronic gadgets. His energy is infectious, and it's impossible not to get swept up in the trance-like atmosphere he creates. But don't let the dark and brooding exterior fool you - Stoneburner has a wicked sense of humour that shines through in his music. Songs like "The No Chamber" and "The Phoenix" are laced with dark humour and biting social commentary, proving that there's more to this artist than meets the eye. In a world oversaturated with cookie-cutter pop stars and manufactured hits, Stoneburner is a refreshing reminder that there's still room for experimentation and innovation in the music industry. Keep an eye on this rising star - you won't want to miss what he does next.
