Morrissey, the patron saint of indie melancholia, has returned with his latest offering, "L.A. Turnaround." This album sees the former Smiths frontman navigating the sun-soaked streets of Los Angeles, pining for a lost love amidst the palm trees and plastic surgery. From the opening track, "Hollywood High," Morrissey's trademark croon is in full force, weaving tales of heartbreak and longing with poetic lyricism. The jangly guitars and sweeping orchestration create a lush sonic backdrop for Morrissey's haunting vocals to shine. "Sunset Serenade" continues the theme of unrequited love, with Morrissey lamenting the superficiality of Hollywood culture over a catchy, upbeat melody.
