Our Take
Kix, the band so often overshadowed by their more mainstream contemporaries, have crafted an album that is as irresistibly catchy as it is shamelessly fun. "Kool Atomic Kixin" is a rollicking romp through the best of 80s hair metal, with crunchy riffs, pounding drums, and anthemic choruses that will have you reaching for your air guitar in no time. From the opening track "Atomic Bomb" to the closing ballad "The Itch," Kix deliver a masterclass in sleazy, unapologetic rock 'n' roll. Frontman Steve Whiteman's gravelly vocals are the perfect complement to the band's high-energy sound, while the twin guitar attack of Brian "Damage" Forsythe and Ronnie "10/10" Younkins keeps the adrenaline pumping throughout. Standout tracks include the infectious sing-along "Cool Kids" and the thunderous "Luv-A-Holic," both of which showcase Kix's knack for writing catchy, memorable hooks. But perhaps the highlight of the album is the epic closer "Blow My Fuse," a seven-minute opus that builds to a thunderous climax and leaves you begging for more.
