Our Take
Our Take
Stumbling out of the cosmic haze of the early 70s, Pink Fairies unleashed their third album "Kings of Oblivion" upon the unsuspecting world. Like a pack of pot-smoking rebels crashing a posh garden party, this record flips the bird at convention and dances barefoot in the mud of psychedelia.
From the opening track "City Kids," with its wild guitar solos and sneering vocals, Pink Fairies set the tone for the wild ride ahead. "I Wish I Was a Girl" showcases their softer side, but don't be fooled - these boys are still here to party. The sprawling "Chambermaid" takes us on a trippy journey through the looking glass, while "Street Urchin" sounds like a bunch of punk rockers crashing a jazzy jam session.
The production may be lo-fi by today's standards, but that adds to the charm of this album. It's like finding a vintage motorcycle in your granddad's shed - rusty, loud, but damn if it doesn't still have some kick left in it.
So, if you're tired of the polished sheen of modern music and yearn for a time when rock 'n' roll was raw, unfiltered, and unapologetically weird, give "Kings of Oblivion" a spin. Just be warned: you may find yourself growing out your hair, burning your bras, and joining a commune in the countryside. And honestly, who wouldn't want to do that?
