Our Take

WHITE WINE's latest album, Killer Brilliance, is like popping open a bottle of champagne only to find out it's actually a can of White Claw. It's a confusing mix of highbrow and lowbrow that somehow works in the most bizarre way possible.

From the opening track, "Champagne Supernova," you're hit with a wave of pretentiousness that's almost suffocating. But just when you think you can't take it anymore, they switch gears with "Lager Than Life," a catchy pop-rock anthem that's as infectious as a cold in winter.

Lead singer, Chardonnay Jones, has a voice that can only be described as a cross between Mariah Carey and a strangled cat. But somehow, it works. Her emotive delivery adds a layer of depth to the album that you wouldn't expect from a band called WHITE WINE.
