Our Take
Our Take
Madness, the nutty boys of British ska, are back with their latest offering "Keep Moving" and boy, does it make you want to do just that - keep moving right past it. This album feels like a disjointed mixtape of 80s cliches, with cheesy synths, corny lyrics, and enough saxophone solos to make Kenny G blush.
From the opening track "Keep Moving" to the closing ballad "Victoria Gardens", Madness somehow manages to stay consistently underwhelming. The songs lack any real depth or originality, instead opting for tired tropes and recycled melodies. It's like they took all the leftover scraps from their previous albums and tossed them together in a blender, hoping it would somehow come out cohesive.
Tracks like "Waltz Into Mischief" and "Michael Caine" attempt to inject some energy and wit into the mix, but ultimately fall flat on their faces. The production is lacklustre, the performances uninspired, and the whole thing just screams mediocrity.
Fans of Madness may find some enjoyment in this album, but for the uninitiated, I would suggest you keep moving and find something more worthy of your time. Sorry lads, but this one just doesn't cut the mustard.
