Our Take
Our Take
If Pitchfork ever decided to branch out into reviewing albums by mythical creatures, DWARVES’ latest release, ‘Keep It Reelin’, would surely be at the top of their list. This album, with its eclectic mix of rock, punk, and folk influences, is a wild ride from start to finish.
From the moment the opening track ‘Gnome Alone’ kicks in, it’s clear that DWARVES have no intention of playing it safe. The band’s trademark blend of distorted guitars, pounding drums, and catchy melodies is on full display here, creating a sound that is at once familiar and completely unique.
Tracks like ‘Trollin’ in the Deep’ and ‘Goblin Groove’ showcase the band’s knack for clever wordplay and infectious hooks, while ‘Elvish Euphoria’ and ‘Dragon Dance’ take things in a more experimental direction, with psychedelic riffs and trippy synth effects.
Throughout the album, frontman Grimlock’s vocals are a standout, ranging from gravelly growls to soaring falsetto, adding an extra layer of excitement to each track. And with lyrics that touch on everything from love and loss to epic battles and mythical creatures, ‘Keep It Reelin’ is a concept album that is as ambitious as it is entertaining.
In short, DWARVES have once again proven themselves to be masters of their craft, delivering an album that is sure to delight fans old and new. So grab your axe and your ale, and get ready to dive into the fantastical world of ‘Keep It Reelin’.

With their wild antics and blistering punk rock sound, this group of misfits has become a cult favourite among music aficionados around the globe. Their live shows are raucous affairs, with stage diving, crowd surfing, and general chaos all par for the course. But underneath all the debauchery lies a band with a tight musical precision and an undeniable talent for crafting hooks that stick in your brain like glue. Their discography is a rollercoaster of sonic delights, with albums ranging from the snotty punk of "Blood Guts and Pussy" to the more melodic pop punk of "The Dwarves Are Born Again." Each release sees the band exploring new sonic territories, all the while retaining that signature DWARVES edge that has made them one of the most beloved bands in punk rock history. Whether you're a die-hard fan who's been following them since day one, or a newbie looking to dip your toes into the wild world of DWARVES, one thing is for certain - once you've experienced the raw energy and fierce passion of this band, you'll never be the same again.
