Our Take
Our Take
The So So Glos return with their latest album "Kamikaze", and this time they're taking no prisoners. With a title like that, you know you're in for a wild ride, and the Brooklyn-based band does not disappoint.
From the opening track, "A.D.D. Life", it's clear that the So So Glos are not here to play it safe. The raw energy and unapologetic attitude that made them famous are still very much present, but there's a newfound sense of urgency and purpose that propels this album to greater heights.
Tracks like "Diss Town" and "Missionary" showcase the band's knack for catchy hooks and infectious melodies, while also delving into some darker, more introspective themes. Meanwhile, "Lost Weekend" and "Bottle Club" offer up some of the band's most anthemic and raucous moments yet.
But it's not all about the party vibes on "Kamikaze". The So So Glos also take a more contemplative turn on tracks like "Cadaver (Career Appointment)", delving into themes of mortality and the fleeting nature of fame.
Overall, "Kamikaze" is a bold and uncompromising statement from a band that refuses to be pigeonholed. With their trademark humour, irreverence, and killer hooks, the So So Glos have once again proven why they are one of the most exciting bands in rock music today. So buckle up and let "Kamikaze" take you on a wild ride you won't soon forget.
