Our Take
Our Take
Artist: FIGURES OF LIGHT
Album: Its Lame
Rating: 2.5/10
Leave it to FIGURES OF LIGHT to deliver an album that lives up to its title. "Its Lame" is a lackluster effort that falls flat in its attempt to woo listeners with its outdated sound and insipid lyrics.
From the opening track, it's clear that this album is a struggle to connect with. The guitar riffs are predictable, the drum beats are uninspired, and the vocals are so monotonous that they might as well be reading off a grocery list.
With song titles like "Mundane Mondays" and "Bland Love", it's no surprise that the music itself lacks any sort of excitement or originality. It's as if FIGURES OF LIGHT took a template of generic rock songs and simply filled in the blanks with the most cliched lyrics they could come up with.
There are moments where the band attempts to inject some energy into their music, but it always falls short, leaving the listener feeling underwhelmed and unimpressed. Overall, "Its Lame" is a forgettable album that would be best left on the shelf.

About the artist
Figures of Light
Figures of Light are a band that don't shy away from pushing boundaries and challenging expectations. With a sound that is a unique blend of punk rock, garage rock, and experimental noise, this trio have been making waves in the underground music scene for over two decades. Led by the enigmatic frontman Wheeler Winston Dixon, Figures of Light have built a reputation for their high-energy live performances and genre-defying music. Their lyrics are filled with wit and social commentary, while their instrumentation is a cacophony of distorted guitars, pounding drums, and unpredictable time signatures. Despite their longevity in the industry, the band has managed to stay true to their DIY ethos, self-releasing all of their albums and booking their own tours. This fierce independence has garnered them a loyal following of fans who appreciate their uncompromising vision and raw honesty. Figures of Light are not ones to conform to trends or cater to mainstream audiences. They march to the beat of their own drum, creating music that is authentic, raw, and unapologetically loud. So, if you're looking for a band that will challenge your perceptions of what rock music can be, look no further than Figures of Light. They're a breath of fresh air in a world of predictability and conformity.
