Our Take
Our Take
Ah, the debut album from legendary all-female rock band Ace of Cups, "It's Bad For You But..."
Let me tell you, this album is like a breath of fresh air in a room full of stale cigarette smoke. These ladies are not here to play it safe, oh no. They're here to rock your socks off and leave you begging for more.
From the moment the first track kicks in, you know you're in for a wild ride. The guitar riffs are fierce, the drums are pounding, and the vocals are raw and powerful. It's like a sonic punch to the gut, in the best possible way.
But don't be fooled by the title, because this album is anything but bad for you. In fact, it's exactly what your soul needs. It's a reminder that rock 'n' roll is meant to be loud, rebellious, and unapologetic. And Ace of Cups deliver that in spades.
Tracks like "Stone Ground" and "Feel Good" will have you dancing around your room like a maniac, while slower ballads like "Simple Stone" and "Medianary" will have you reflecting on life and love in a whole new way.
So do yourself a favour and give "It's Bad For You But..." a listen. You won't regret it. Just be prepared to have your mind blown and your speakers rattled. Ace of Cups are here to rock your world, and they do it with style.

About the artist
The Ace of Cups
Ace of Cups are the OG girl group that never got their due. Formed in the Summer of Love in 1967, these four ladies were at the forefront of the San Francisco psychedelic scene, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Jimi Hendrix and The Grateful Dead. Despite being managed by the legendary Bill Graham, they never quite hit the big time, but their influence on the music industry is undeniable. Their self-titled debut album, released in 2018, is a time capsule of their 60s sound, reminiscent of Jefferson Airplane and Janis Joplin. With swirling guitars, badass harmonies, and lyrics that tackle social issues head-on, it's a shame these girls didn't get their moment in the spotlight sooner. Lead vocalist Denise Kaufman's soulful voice is a force to be reckoned with, while Mary Gannon's bass lines provide a solid backbone for the band's groovy sound. Mary Ellen Simpson's guitar riffs are pure psychedelic magic, and drummer Diane Vitalich's impeccable timing keeps the band in perfect rhythm. Despite their long hiatus from the music scene, the Ace of Cups have returned with a vengeance, proving that age is just a number. Their live shows are a sight to behold, with the ladies still rocking out like it's 1969. With a new generation of fans discovering their music, it's safe to say that the Ace of Cups are finally getting the recognition they deserve. Long live the Queens of Psychedelia!
