Our Take
Ah, Flat Party. What can we say about this latest offering, "It's All Been Done Before"? Well, for starters, the title speaks volumes in itself. This album is like the friend who tells the same story at every party and somehow still expects a laugh. The opening track, "Déjà Vu", sets the tone perfectly for what's to come - a collection of songs that feel oddly familiar, like you've heard them all before. And you probably have, in some capacity. Lead singer Gary's melancholic vocals float over the repetitive guitar riffs in a way that almost lulled me to sleep. But then I remembered I had a job to do, so I soldiered on. Tracks like "Same Old Same Old" and "Been There, Done That" further drive home the point that Flat Party is not here to reinvent the wheel. They're here to remind you that they know what works, and by god, they're going to stick to it. In the end, "It's All Been Done Before" is a solid effort from a band that knows exactly who they are and what they're about. And if you're in the mood for a trip down memory lane, then this album is perfect for you. Just don't expect any surprises along the way.
