Our Take
Our Take
Ah, My Bloody Valentine. The band that managed to turn distortion and feedback into an art form. "Isn't Anything" is their debut studio album, and boy, is it a trip.
From the moment you press play, you're enveloped in a sonic whirlwind of swirling guitars and hazy vocals. It's like being transported to another dimension where everything is just a little bit fuzzier and more intoxicating.
Tracks like "Soft as Snow (But Warm Inside)" and "Feed Me With Your Kiss" showcase the band's ability to create dreamy, otherworldly atmospheres that are simultaneously unsettling and mesmerising.
But it's not all ethereal landscapes and shoegaze bliss. "Nothing Much to Lose" and "Several Girls Galore" bring a raw energy and urgency to the album, showing that My Bloody Valentine can rock out with the best of them.
Overall, "Isn't Anything" is a mesmerising journey through the sonic landscape of one of the most influential bands of the '80s. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but if you're willing to let go and surrender to its distorted charms, you might just find yourself lost in its swirling melodies and fuzzy textures for hours on end.

About the artist
my bloody valentine
MY BLOODY VALENTINE. The mere mention of this enigmatic Irish band is enough to send shivers down the spine of any self-respecting music lover. Formed in the late 1980s, MBV (as they are affectionately known by their devoted fans) have become synonymous with shoegaze and dream pop, thanks to their groundbreaking albums like "Loveless" and "Isn't Anything." Led by the enigmatic Kevin Shields, who is as much a mad genius as he is a musical prodigy, MBV are known for their ethereal, wall-of-sound approach to songwriting. Shields' signature distorted guitar and whispery vocals create a sonic landscape that is both haunting and hypnotic, drawing listeners into a dreamlike trance from which they never want to wake. But don't be fooled by their angelic soundscapes - MBV are no strangers to controversy. Their infamous perfectionism and meticulous attention to detail have led to years-long delays in releasing new music, much to the frustration of fans who have been eagerly awaiting their next sonic masterpiece. Despite their elusive nature and somewhat reclusive tendencies, MY BLOODY VALENTINE remain a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Their influence can be heard in countless bands that have followed in their footsteps, but no one quite captures the magic and mystery of MBV. So, if you find yourself craving a musical experience that is equal parts ethereal and intense, look no further than MY BLOODY VALENTINE. Just be prepared to lose yourself in their sonic universe, because once you enter, there's no turning back.
