Our Take
Scottish songstress Amy Macdonald is back with her latest offering, "Is This What You've Been Waiting For?" Well, Amy, we've been waiting for something a bit more exciting, if we're being honest. The album kicks off with the title track, and it's a slow burner that doesn't quite ignite the passion we were hoping for. Macdonald's signature husky vocals are as powerful as ever, but the instrumentation feels a bit safe and uninspired. Tracks like "Crazy Shade of Blue" and "Fire" pick up the pace a bit, with catchy melodies and some unexpected twists and turns. But overall, the album lacks the edge and experimentation that we love to see in an artist like Macdonald. One standout track is "Limb By Limb," which showcases Macdonald's raw emotion and storytelling skills. It's a haunting ballad that will stick with you long after the album ends. Overall, "Is This What You've Been Waiting For?" is a solid offering from Amy Macdonald, but it doesn't quite reach the heights of her earlier work. Here's hoping she takes some more risks on her next album. We'll definitely be waiting for that.
