Our Take

Ah, SAXON, the legendary British heavy metal band that has been rocking stages since the late '70s. With their latest album "Inspirations," they pay homage to some of the classic rock songs that inspired them to pick up their instruments in the first place.

Opening track "Paint It Black" sees vocalist Biff Byford's vocals soaring over the heavy riffage, adding a fresh twist to the classic Rolling Stones hit. The band's take on Toto's "Hold the Line" is a high-energy romp that will have you headbanging along in no time.

But it's their cover of AC/DC's "Problem Child" that really steals the show, with guitarist Paul Quinn's blistering solos paying perfect tribute to Angus Young's iconic playing. The band's chemistry is apparent throughout the album, with each member clearly having a blast putting their own spin on these beloved tracks.

While some may argue that covers albums are a dime a dozen, SAXON manages to breathe new life into these classics, reminding us why they became such huge hits in the first place. "Inspirations" is a fun, nostalgic romp that showcases the band's musical prowess and pays homage to the rock legends who paved the way for them. So grab a beer, turn up the volume, and let SAXON take you on a journey through rock 'n' roll history.
