One would think that an album titled "If Not Forever" would leave a lasting impression, but alas, JACK GRELLE's latest offering falls short of the mark. This collection of songs has all the ingredients for a great album - soulful vocals, twangy guitars, and heartfelt lyrics - but somehow, it all feels a bit... well, forgettable.
GRELLE's storytelling skills are evident throughout the album, with tales of heartbreak, hope, and everything in between. But while the lyrics are certainly well-crafted, they lack the emotional punch needed to truly captivate the listener. The melodies are catchy enough, but they never quite reach the heights of greatness.
Perhaps the biggest letdown of "If Not Forever" is the lack of sonic diversity. Each track seems to blend into the next, creating a sense of monotony that is hard to shake off. From start to finish, the album feels like one long, meandering ballad that never quite hits its stride.
That being said, there are moments of beauty to be found on this album. The haunting harmonies of "Broken Dreams" and the bittersweet nostalgia of "Goodbye My Love" are standouts that showcase GRELLE's potential as a songwriter. But ultimately, "If Not Forever" leaves much to be desired, making it a forgettable addition to GRELLE's discography.
