Our Take
Our Take
Tankard's latest album, "Hymns For The Drunk," is a raucous ride through thrash metal with a side of beer-soaked mayhem. If you're looking for sophisticated lyrics and profound themes, look elsewhere. But if you're in the mood for a good time and some headbanging riffs, Tankard has got you covered.
From the opening track "Pay to Pray," it's clear that Tankard isn't taking themselves too seriously. The lyrics are cheesy, the guitar solos are blazing, and the overall vibe is just pure fun. Songs like "Die With a Beer in Your Hand" and "Rectifier" are perfect for getting the party started, while "Syrian Nightmare" adds a touch of social commentary to the mix.
Despite the album's lighthearted approach, the musicianship on display is top-notch. Frontman Andreas "Gerre" Geremia's vocals are as gritty as ever, and the rest of the band members keep up with blistering guitar solos and thunderous drumming.
Overall, "Hymns For The Drunk" is a solid addition to Tankard's discography. It may not be groundbreaking, but it's a hell of a good time. So grab a cold one, crank up the volume, and let Tankard take you on a wild ride through the world of thrash metal. Cheers!

About the artist
Tankard
TANKARD: The Kings of Beer Metal When you think of German thrash metal, bands like Kreator and Sodom may come to mind. But there's one band that stands out for their unique blend of aggressive riffs, pounding drums, and...beer. Yes, you read that right – Tankard, the self-proclaimed "Kings of Beer Metal," have been rocking beer-soaked stages since the early 1980s. Formed in Frankfurt in 1982, Tankard quickly made a name for themselves with their energetic live performances and tongue-in-cheek lyrics about all things beer. Frontman Andreas "Gerre" Geremia's gravelly vocals and charismatic stage presence have become synonymous with the band's sound, while guitarist Frank Thorwarth, drummer Olaf Zissel, and bassist Andreas Bulgaropulos provide the blistering musical backdrop. Tankard's discography is a beer-fueled journey through the highs and lows of the thrash metal scene. From their early releases like "Zombie Attack" and "The Morning After" to their more recent albums like "One Foot in the Grave" and "R.I.B. (Rest in Beer)," Tankard have stayed true to their roots while continuing to push the boundaries of their genre. Whether you're a die-hard thrash metal fan or just looking for a good time, Tankard's infectious energy and irreverent attitude are sure to leave you headbanging and reaching for another cold one. So grab a beer, crank up some Tankard, and let the "Kings of Beer Metal" take you on a wild ride through the world of thrash. Cheers!
