The Huddersfield Choral Society, under the baton of Christopher Stokes and Gregory Batsleer, have blessed us with their latest offering, The Hymns Album. Vol. 2. And let me tell you, it's a religious experience like no other.
From the moment the first angelic voices soar on the opening track, you can feel the power of the choral harmonies lifting you up to the heavens. Stokes and Batsleer have clearly whipped these singers into shape, creating a sound that is utterly divine.
But don't be fooled by the religious themes - this album is far from stuffy. The Choral Society brings a sense of fun and personality to each hymn, infusing them with a modern twist that is sure to have you tapping your feet along.
Standout tracks include the hauntingly beautiful "Abide with Me" and the spine-tingling rendition of "How Great Thou Art". But really, there isn't a weak moment on this album. Each track is a testament to the skill and passion of the Huddersfield Choral Society.
