Our Take

The Howlin Brothers are back, and they’re howlin’ in British English this time. Yes, you heard that right. The Nashville trio has traded in their twang for a cup of tea and a bad case of the London fog, and we are here for it.

On their latest album, aptly titled Howlin British English, the band explores a whole new sonic landscape, blending Americana with a healthy dose of Britpop influences. From the opening track "Tea and Biscuits Blues" to the closing ballad "Rainy Days in Manchester," the Howlin Brothers manage to capture both the essence of their homeland and the spirit of the British invasion.

The album is a delightful mix of witty lyrics, catchy melodies, and impeccable harmonies. The band’s musicianship is on full display, with each member showcasing their skills on a variety of instruments, from banjo to accordion to the good old electric guitar.

Standout tracks include the rollicking "Tube Strike Stomp" and the haunting "Foggy London Town," but really, there isn’t a weak moment on the album. The Howlin Brothers have truly outdone themselves with this one, delivering a collection of songs that is both familiar and fresh, timeless and of the moment.
