Our Take

Ah, Embrace. The band that always seems to be chasing their own tail, never quite hitting the mark but continuously trying. Their latest album, "How To Be A Person Like Other People," is no exception.

From the opening track, "Awkward Encounters," it's clear that Embrace is still struggling to find their footing in the ever-changing landscape of indie music. The song is a mishmash of awkward lyrics and generic guitar riffs that leaves the listener feeling, well, awkward.

But don't count them out just yet. "Trying to Fit In" shows a glimmer of promise with its catchy chorus and infectious groove. It's a rare moment of clarity in an otherwise muddled album.

Unfortunately, things quickly go downhill from there. "Lost in the Crowd" is a forgettable ballad that gets lost in its own mediocrity, while "Socially Inept" fails to make any real connection with the listener.

Overall, "How To Be A Person Like Other People" is a lacklustre effort from a band that seems to have lost their way. Embrace may never be the cool kids on the block, but they could at least try to be a little more interesting. Better luck next time, lads.
