Our Take
Ah, the legendary Jimi Hendrix Experience. Live At The Hollywood Bowl: August 18, 1967 captures the iconic guitarist at the peak of his powers, shredding through bluesy riffs and psychedelic solos like a true rock god.
From the moment Hendrix hits the stage, you can feel the electricity in the air. The crowd is buzzing with excitement, and rightly so – this is a performance for the ages. Hendrix's guitar playing is nothing short of mind-blowing, as he effortlessly blends raw emotion with technical wizardry.
Tracks like "Purple Haze" and "Foxy Lady" showcase Hendrix's incomparable talent, while lesser-known gems like "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" and "Manic Depression" reveal the depth of his musical prowess. The band's chemistry is palpable, with drummer Mitch Mitchell and bassist Noel Redding providing the perfect rhythmic backdrop for Hendrix's sonic explorations.
But it's not just about the music – Hendrix's showmanship is on full display here. His wild theatrics and charismatic stage presence make for a truly unforgettable experience. Whether he's setting his guitar on fire or playing with his teeth, Hendrix knows how to put on a show.
Overall, Live At The Hollywood Bowl is a must-listen for any Hendrix fan. It's a time capsule of a bygone era, when rock 'n' roll was at its most electrifying. So crank up the volume, grab your air guitar, and get ready to be transported back to the Summer of Love with the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

About the artist
The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Master of the electric guitar and pioneer of psychedelic rock, Jimi Hendrix and his band The Experience are the stuff of music legend. With his virtuosic guitar playing, innovative songwriting, and captivating stage presence, Hendrix brought a whole new sound to the music scene in the 1960s. Born in Seattle, Washington in 1942, Hendrix began playing guitar at a young age and quickly developed his own unique style. His blend of blues, rock, and soul, combined with his groundbreaking use of distortion and feedback, pushed the boundaries of what was possible with the electric guitar. Formed in 1966, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, consisting of Hendrix on guitar, Noel Redding on bass, and Mitch Mitchell on drums, took the music world by storm with their explosive live performances and innovative studio recordings. Tracks like "Purple Haze," "Foxy Lady," and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" are now considered classics of the era. But Hendrix was more than just a guitar hero. He was also a visionary songwriter, addressing themes of love, spirituality, and social change in his music. His album "Are You Experienced" is a psychedelic masterpiece that continues to influence musicians to this day. Unfortunately, Hendrix's career was cut tragically short when he died in 1970 at the young age of 27. But his legacy lives on, with his music still captivating new generations of fans and musicians alike. Jimi Hendrix and The Experience may have been gone too soon, but their influence on the music world will never be forgotten.
