Our Take

BIGENERIC's debut album, Helvain, sounds like the lovechild of a garage punk band and a math rock group who got lost in a time warp and ended up in London circa 1975. From the opening track "Tea and Crumpets" to the closing number "Bangers and Mash", this album is a whirlwind of British charm and musical experimentation.

The band's unique blend of quirky lyrics and off-kilter guitar riffs makes for an interesting listening experience. Tracks like "Scone Zone" and "Cheeky Nando's" showcase BIGENERIC's ability to seamlessly blend disparate genres into a cohesive whole. However, at times, the album feels a bit too derivative of its influences, with nods to The Clash and The Kinks feeling a bit too on the nose.

Despite this, Helvain is a solid debut effort from BIGENERIC, showcasing the band's potential for growth and evolution. With a bit more polish and originality, this band could really make a mark on the British music scene. Overall, Helvain is a fun and quirky listen that will have you tapping your foot and craving a trip to the nearest pub. Cheers to that!

About the artist

Bigeneric

BIGENERIC is the epitome of everything bland and uninspired in today's music industry. Hailing from a small town in the middle of nowhere, this cookie-cutter artist brings absolutely nothing new to the table. His music can best be described as a soulless blend of generic pop beats and cringe-worthy lyrics. With a voice as forgettable as last week's leftovers and a stage presence that could put a glass of water to sleep, BIGENERIC is the kind of artist that makes you wonder how he ever managed to get signed in the first place. His songs lack any real depth or emotion, leaving listeners feeling more empty and unfulfilled than after a night of binge-watching reality TV. Despite his lacklustre performances and subpar songwriting skills, BIGENERIC continues to churn out one forgettable track after another. It's hard to say what's more disappointing - the fact that he's still making music, or the fact that there are people out there actually buying it. In a music industry that thrives on innovation and creativity, BIGENERIC is a sad reminder of everything that's wrong with modern pop music. If you're looking for something with even a modicum of substance or originality, do yourself a favour and steer clear of this bland and unremarkable artist. Life's too short to waste it on BIGENERIC and his insipid tunes.
