Our Take
Our Take
Ah, the Jonas Brothers. The band that spawned a generation of Disney Channel stans and made "Burnin' Up" the ultimate bop of the late 2000s. After a six-year hiatus, the brothers are back with their latest offering, "Happiness Begins".
From the opening track "Sucker", it's clear that the JoBros are here to remind us why we fell in love with them in the first place. The infectious hooks, the tight harmonies, and those signature Jonas vocals are all present and accounted for.
But don't be fooled by the nostalgia factor, because "Happiness Begins" is a surprisingly mature effort from the trio. Tracks like "Cool" and "Only Human" showcase a more refined sound, with hints of funk and retro pop that feel fresh and exciting.
That's not to say the album is without its missteps. "Don't Throw It Away" veers dangerously close to boyband ballad territory, and "Every Single Time" feels a bit too much like a recycled Maroon 5 reject.
Overall, "Happiness Begins" is a solid comeback for the Jonas Brothers. It may not reinvent the wheel, but it's a fun, feel-good ride that will have you singing along in no time. Welcome back, boys.
