HAGBERG/LANDGREN - "Where You Goin": A Mismatched, Musical Journey

Swedish jazz duo Hagberg and Landgren have teamed up for their latest album, "Where You Goin," and it's a ride that's as confusing as trying to assemble IKEA furniture without the instruction manual.

The album kicks off with "Lost in Translation," a track that feels like being stuck in a conversation with someone who only speaks in cryptic riddles. It's frustratingly catchy, with Landgren's smooth saxophone weaving in and out of Hagberg's chaotic piano chords.

As we delve deeper into the album, tracks like "Mismatched Melody" and "Musical Madness" feel like an attempt to fuse jazz and electronica, but end up sounding like a glitchy robot trying to play jazz standards on a broken record player.

But just when you think "Where You Goin" is a complete train wreck, Hagberg and Landgren surprise us with the hauntingly beautiful "Midnight Waltz." It's a standout track that showcases the duo's undeniable chemistry and talent.

In the end, "Where You Goin" is a mixed bag of musical experimentation that will leave you scratching your head one moment, and nodding your head in appreciation the next. It's a wild, unpredictable ride that may not always hit the mark, but at least it's never boring.
