Primus's latest offering, "Groundhog Day," is a whirlwind of weird and wonderful sounds that will have you questioning your own sanity in the best way possible.
From the opening track, "Pork Soda," it's clear that this album is not for the faint of heart. The basslines are funky, the lyrics are bizarre, and the overall vibe is delightfully off-kilter.
Lead singer Les Claypool's vocals are as distinct as ever, with his trademark nasally twang adding a layer of eccentricity to each track. The instrumental prowess of the band is on full display, with drummer Tim Alexander and guitarist Larry "Ler" LaLonde pushing the boundaries of their respective instruments.
Standout tracks include "My Name is Mud," a raucous romp through a muddy swamp of distorted guitars and pulsating bass, and "Jerry Was a Race Car Driver," a frenetic ode to speed and adrenaline.
