DINOSAUR JR.
Green Mind (Deluxe Expanded Edition)
RATING: 8.6
Dinosaur Jr. might be old, but they're definitely not extinct. The band's Green Mind (Deluxe Expanded Edition) is a blast from the past, but with a few extra fossils thrown in for good measure. J Mascis' fuzzy guitar riffs and slacker vocals are still a winning combination, and somehow manage to sound even better with age.
The expanded edition of the album includes bonus tracks that give us a glimpse into the band's creative process. From unreleased demos to live recordings, it's like digging up a treasure trove of musical memories. And let's not forget about the remastered sound quality - it's like hearing these songs for the first time, but with a glossy new coat of paint.
Tracks like "The Wagon" and "Puke + Cry" still pack a punch, with their infectious melodies and energetic performances. But it's the quieter moments on the album, like "Thumb," that really showcase Dinosaur Jr.'s versatility and depth.
Overall, Green Mind (Deluxe Expanded Edition) is a must-listen for any fan of alternative rock. It's a nostalgic trip down memory lane, but with enough surprises to keep things interesting. So grab your flannel shirt, crank up the volume, and let Dinosaur Jr. take you on a journey back to the golden age of grunge.

About the artist
Dinosaur Jr.
Dinosaur Jr. are the grandfather's of lo-fi indie rock, the kind of band that makes you want to grab a beat-up guitar and strum along in your garage. Hailing from Amherst, Massachusetts, this trio consists of J Mascis on vocals and guitar, Lou Barlow on bass and Murph on drums. With their debut album "Dinosaur" hitting the scene in 1985, these guys have been rocking out for over three decades. Their sound is a unique blend of punk, grunge and classic rock, with Mascis's fuzzy guitar licks and laid-back vocals stealing the show. But what really sets Dinosaur Jr. apart is their live performances. Mascis may look like a sleepy-eyed professor, but when he hits the stage, he transforms into a guitar god, shredding away with reckless abandon. Barlow and Murph provide the perfect rhythm section to keep the energy going, creating a sonic whirlwind that will leave you wanting more. Their 2016 album "Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not" proved that Dinosaur Jr. still have plenty of gas left in the tank. Tracks like "Goin Down" and "Tiny" are prime examples of their signature sound, with anthemic choruses and killer guitar solos that will have you headbanging in no time. So if you're a fan of raw, unapologetic rock 'n' roll, Dinosaur Jr. are a band you need to check out. They may be old-timers in the scene, but these guys can still teach the youngsters a thing or two about how to rock out with style.
