Our Take
Harold Butler's latest offering, "Gold Connection," is a mixed bag of musical treats that will have you bopping along one moment and scratching your head the next. The album kicks off with the funky bass line of "Groove Machine," which immediately sets the tone for the rest of the record. Butler's smooth vocals and tight arrangements make this track a certified banger. However, as the album progresses, things take a bit of a weird turn. Tracks like "Space Funk" and "Disco Inferno" feel like they were plucked straight from a 70s sci-fi movie soundtrack, complete with cheesy synth lines and over-the-top production.
