Our Take
Mötley Crüe's "Girls, Girls, Girls" is a sleazy romp through the dregs of 80s glam metal, dripping with hairspray and questionable life choices. From the opening riff of the titular track, it's clear that this album is not for the faint of heart - or the sober of mind. Vince Neil's screeching vocals are like a banshee wailing in the night, while Mick Mars's guitar solos are more over-the-top than a Vegas strip show. The rhythm section of Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee pounds away like a runaway freight train, leaving no survivors in their wake. Lyrically, the album doesn't stray far from the tried-and-tested formula of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. Songs like "Wild Side" and "Dancing on Glass" revel in debauchery, while "You're All I Need" shows a surprisingly vulnerable side to the band - albeit one that is quickly overshadowed by the relentless riffage. But for all its excesses and indulgences, "Girls, Girls, Girls" is undeniably catchy. Tracks like "Same Ol' Situation" and "Nona" are impossible not to sing along to, even if you feel slightly dirty doing so. In the end, Mötley Crüe may not be breaking any new ground with "Girls, Girls, Girls", but they certainly know how to deliver a good time. So grab your leather pants and hairspray, and prepare for a wild ride through the seedy underbelly of 80s rock 'n' roll. You'll thank us later.
