Our Take

Randy Edelman's "Ghostbusters II" soundtrack is a mixed bag of tricks, much like the supernatural shenanigans that the Ghostbusters themselves face. From the opening track "On Our Own" by Bobby Brown, you're hit with a dose of 80s nostalgia that will have you busting a move in no time. It's cheesy, it's catchy, and it's oh so perfect for cruising down the street in your Ecto-1.

But as the album progresses, things take a turn for the weird. Edelman's original score for the film is a strange mix of eerie synth sounds and bombastic brass that feels like it's straight out of a haunted funhouse. Tracks like "Scolari Brothers" and "Mood Slime" transport you to a realm of spooky spectres and slime-covered ghosts, making you question if you've accidentally stumbled into the Ghostbusters' next paranormal investigation.

Despite its quirks, "Ghostbusters II" soundtrack is undeniably fun. Whether you're belting out "Higher and Higher" by Howard Huntsberry or getting down to Run-D.M.C.'s "Ghostbusters" remix, this album is a wild ride from start to finish. So grab your proton pack, fire up the ol' boombox, and get ready to bust some ghosts with Randy Edelman's zany soundtrack that's sure to stay in your head long after the credits roll.

About the artist

Randy Edelman

Randy Edelman is the unsung hero of Hollywood's composing scene. With a career spanning over four decades, this man makes music that's as memorable as a drunken karaoke night. You may not recognise his name, but you definitely know his tunes. From the iconic theme of "Dragonheart" to the tearjerking melodies of "The Last of the Mohicans," Edelman has a knack for hitting all the right notes. His scores are like comfort food for the ears – familiar, satisfying, and always hits the spot. But don't let the sentimental strings fool you. This guy can rock out too. Just listen to his groovy soundtrack for "The Mask" and try not to bust a move. Spoiler alert: you can't. Despite his impressive resume and undeniable talent, Edelman remains a bit of a mystery in the music world. Maybe it's because he's more comfortable behind the scenes, crafting masterpieces in the shadows. Or maybe he's just too busy composing another timeless score to bother with all the fuss. Either way, Randy Edelman is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. So next time you're bopping your head to a catchy movie theme, take a moment to appreciate the genius behind the music. And remember – Edelman is the man, the myth, and the legend all rolled into one.
