Our Take
Seattle-based trio Wimps have returned with their latest offering, "Garbage People," and it's a rollercoaster ride through the wonderful world of lo-fi punk rock. From the very first track, "Giant Brain," it's clear that Wimps are not here to mess around. The crunchy guitar riffs and snarky vocals set the tone for the rest of the album. One of the standout tracks on "Garbage People" is "Cave Life," a frantic anthem for anyone who's ever felt like they just can't catch a break. The combination of Rachel Ratner's deadpan delivery and Matt Nyce's infectious drumming make this track a real winner. But it's not all high-energy punk rock on this album. Tracks like "Procrastination" and "Trip Around the Sun" showcase Wimps' ability to dial it back and deliver some feel-good, sing-along tunes. These tracks provide a nice balance to the more intense moments on the album. Overall, "Garbage People" is a fun, quirky, and thoroughly enjoyable listen.
