Our Take
Mannequin Men's latest album "Fresh Rot" is a raucous, raw, and rollicking ride through the seedy underbelly of garage rock. Hailing from Chicago, this band brings a refreshing dose of attitude and nonchalance to the table. With track titles like "Sweaty Palms" and "Messy Hair", Mannequin Men don't pretend to be anything other than what they are - a bunch of fun-loving, beer-swilling rockers making music for the sheer hell of it. And I must say, it's a bloody good time. The album kicks off with the blistering opener "Stuck in the Middle", a high-energy anthem that sets the tone for the rest of the record. From there, it's a rollercoaster of fuzzy guitars, pounding drums, and snarling vocals that never let up. While the lyrics may not be breaking any new ground, it's the energy and swagger that really make this album shine. These guys don't take themselves too seriously, and it's that sense of fun that makes "Fresh Rot" such a joy to listen to. Overall, Mannequin Men have delivered a solid addition to the garage rock canon with "Fresh Rot". It may not reinvent the wheel, but it sure does spin it with style.
