Our Take
Our Take
TALL TALL TREES, the brainchild of banjo wizard Mike Savino, delivers a whimsical and genre-bending experience with his latest offering, Freedays. From the moment you press play, you're transported into a vibrant world where traditional folk meets electronic experimentation, resulting in a sound that is as captivating as it is unpredictable.
Savino's banjo skills are undeniably impressive, weaving intricate melodies throughout each track with a level of dexterity that is nothing short of awe-inspiring. But what truly sets Freedays apart is Savino's willingness to push the boundaries of his instrument, incorporating lush synths and unexpected production elements to create a sonic landscape that is both familiar and fresh.
Tracks like "The Wind, She Whispers" and "SeagullxEagle" showcase Savino's knack for crafting infectious hooks and memorable melodies, while more introspective cuts like "A Place to Call Your Own" and "Cliffjumper" reveal a vulnerability and depth that is truly moving.
Overall, Freedays is a joyful and eclectic journey that defies categorisation. TALL TALL TREES has once again proven that he is a master of his craft, blending genres and pushing the limits of traditional folk music in a way that is uniquely his own. So grab your banjo, sit back, and let TALL TALL TREES take you on a wild and wonderful ride.
