Our Take
Our Take
After spending a weekend buried under a mountain of vinyl records and a haze of artisanal coffee, I emerged with a copy of AFTER THE FALL's latest offering, "Fort Orange". The album, while not groundbreaking, is a toe-tapping romp through the frontiers of pop-punk.
Lead singer Bob McHendry's vocals soar above the crunchy guitar riffs like a pop-punk eagle, carrying tunes that stick in your head like peanut butter in a shag carpet. Tracks like "Skyscraper" and "Broken Wings" showcase the band's ability to blend infectious melodies with powerful hooks that hit you like a left hook from a teenage delinquent.
The album's production is as slick as a wet otter, with a polished sheen that sparkles like a disco ball at a funeral. Each instrument shines through the mix like a diamond in a pile of rocks, creating a sonic landscape that is both expansive and intimate.
While "Fort Orange" may not reinvent the wheel, it's a solid addition to AFTER THE FALL's discography that will keep fans of the genre coming back for more. So grab your skateboard, throw on your favourite flannel shirt, and crank up the volume on this album - just be prepared to have those catchy choruses stuck in your head for days.
