Our Take

Album Review: Bon Jovi - "Forever"

If you were looking for a midlife crisis in musical form, Bon Jovi's latest album "Forever" delivers in spades. From the melodramatic ballads to the cheesy guitar solos, this album is like a time warp back to the 80s – for better or for worse.

Lead singer Jon Bon Jovi's vocals are as powerful as ever, but they can't save the lacklustre songwriting on tracks like "Living on a Prayer Pt. II" and "Rocking in the Retirement Home". The band's attempt at staying relevant with a guest feature from a trendy pop star falls flat, making it clear that Bon Jovi are firmly stuck in the past.

The production on "Forever" is slick and polished, but it can't disguise the fact that this album is a tired retread of Bon Jovi's greatest hits. The band's penchant for over-the-top anthems is in full force here, but it feels more like a parody of themselves than a genuine effort to push boundaries.

In the end, "Forever" is a nostalgic trip down memory lane for fans of Bon Jovi, but for anyone looking for something fresh and exciting, this album falls short. Bon Jovi may be forever, but their music is starting to feel a little stale. Verdict: 5.5/10

About the artist

Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi. The name alone conjures images of big hair, leather jackets, and power ballads that make even the toughest rockers shed a tear. With over three decades in the music industry, this New Jersey native has solidified their place as one of the most iconic rock bands of all time. Led by the charismatic frontman Jon Bon Jovi, this band has had their fair share of highs and lows throughout their career. From their arena-rock anthems like "Livin' on a Prayer" and "You Give Love a Bad Name" to their more introspective tracks like "Bed of Roses" and "Always," Bon Jovi has proven time and time again that they are not just a one-trick pony. But don't let their catchy choruses and infectious hooks fool you - this band has some serious musical chops. With Jon's powerhouse vocals, Richie Sambora's blistering guitar solos, and the tight rhythm section of Tico Torres and David Bryan, Bon Jovi knows how to put on a show that will have you singing along at the top of your lungs. While some may dismiss Bon Jovi as just another '80s hair band, their influence on the rock music scene cannot be denied. They have sold over 130 million records worldwide, won countless awards, and have a dedicated fanbase that spans generations. So whether you're a die-hard Bon Jovi fan or a casual listener, there's no denying the impact that this band has had on the music industry. And with no signs of slowing down anytime soon, Bon Jovi will continue to rock our world for years to come.
