Our Take

Album Review: HURRICANE #1 - Find What You Love And Let It Kill You

Ah, HURRICANE #1, the band name that sounds like a weather forecast and a mathematical equation all at once. But don't let the quirky name fool you, these British rockers have been around the block a few times, and their latest album, "Find What You Love And Let It Kill You," is proof that they still know how to make a catchy tune.

From the opening track, "Revolution In Your Heart," it's clear that this band is here to make a statement. The guitars are loud, the drums are pounding, and lead singer Alex Lowe's vocals are as powerful as ever. It's a high-energy start to the album that sets the tone for what's to come.

Tracks like "Twilight World" and "Shark" showcase HURRICANE #1's ability to write hook-laden songs that stay with you long after the music has stopped. These are the kind of songs that make you want to roll down the car windows and sing along at the top of your lungs, much to the dismay of your passengers.

But it's not all high-octane rockers on this album. Tracks like "Permanent Blue" and "I Wanna Kill You" show a softer side to the band, with shimmering guitars and heartfelt lyrics that tug at the heartstrings.

Overall, "Find What You Love And Let It Kill You" is a solid addition to HURRICANE #1's discography. It's fun, it's quirky, and it's definitely worth a listen. Just maybe don't take the album title too literally.

About the artist

Hurricane #1

HURRICANE #1 burst onto the Britpop scene in the late 90s like a, well, hurricane. With their infectious blend of psychedelic rock, shoegaze melodies, and undeniable swagger, this Manchester-based band quickly earned a reputation as one of the most exciting acts of the era. Led by the enigmatic vocalist Alex Lowe, HURRICANE #1's debut self-titled album was a critical and commercial success, featuring anthems like "Step into My World" and "Only the Strongest Will Survive". Their sound was a mix of Oasis-style swagger and My Bloody Valentine-esque wall of sound, resulting in a unique and captivating sonic experience. But it wasn't all smooth sailing for HURRICANE #1. The band faced internal tensions and lineup changes, which ultimately led to their breakup in the early 2000s. Despite this, their influence lives on in the music of countless bands who have been inspired by their distinctive sound. Fast forward to today, and HURRICANE #1 are back with a vengeance. Reunited and revitalized, the band is on a mission to reclaim their rightful place in the pantheon of Britpop legends. With a new album in the works and a slew of live dates on the horizon, HURRICANE #1 are ready to remind the world why they were once hailed as the future of British rock music. So buckle up, music lovers, because HURRICANE #1 are back and they're ready to take you on a wild ride through the swirling winds of their sonic universe. Hold onto your hats, because this is going to be one hell of a ride.
