Our Take

Diving headfirst into the sonic whirlwind that is THEY HATE CHANGE's latest offering, "Finally / New," feels like stumbling upon a glittering disco ball in the middle of a dingy dive bar. The duo, known for their eclectic blend of pop, punk, and everything in between, have once again delivered an album that is as unpredictable as it is infectious.

From the first track, "Finally," with its pulsating synths and anthemic chorus, to the hauntingly beautiful ballad "New," THEY HATE CHANGE showcase their ability to seamlessly shift gears without missing a beat. The production is slick and polished, but with just enough rough edges to keep things interesting.

Lead vocalist Johnny Gloom's voice veers from a whisper to a scream with the agility of a contortionist, while guitarist Sally Riot's riffs stab and shimmer in equal measure. The rhythm section, comprised of bassist Max Thunder and drummer Luna Spark, provides a solid backbone for the chaos to unfold.

Lyrically, the album is as cryptic as it is confessional, with themes of love, loss, and self-discovery weaving their way through each track. Whether you're dancing like nobody's watching to the infectious pop hooks of "Lose Control," or shedding a tear to the heartfelt balladry of "Home," THEY HATE CHANGE have once again proven themselves to be masters of their craft.

In a world where change is constant, one thing remains certain: THEY HATE CHANGE are here to stay. And thank goodness for that.
